Miss Ashley - Mata and the whale is a traditional Niuean story. Mata is a young girl who was making tapa on the beach, using shells to create patterns on the tapa cloth. She saw a whale and teased it saying it had a funny shaped head. The whale came up onto the beach and ate her in punishment. As the whale swam to Tonga (allegedly for breeding season) Mata cut her way through the whales stomach using her shell. She is found on a beach in Tonga, and the local chief marries her and they have a baby. Tonga at that time cut babies out of their mothers stomach as there was no hospitals, but Mata taught them how to have a baby without cutting the mothers.
Mariah - Mata lived in a little village by the sea in Niue and for a living she made beautiful tapa cloth and all the people loved her cloth but one day she saw a whale and she made the whale bad because she teased its saying that it had a funny shaped head.

Davlyn-once upon a time there was a game named Mata she lived in a little village by the sea, one day she was sitting on the beach she was using a shell to draw the lines on the tapa cloth. Mata looked up and saw a weird whale and said “you have a funny head” then she laughed at the whale, the whale was not happy so the whale swam right up to the beach and swallowed and swallowed her whole. Nitika-Mata is a niuean girl who dose traditional tapa cloth pattern by using a shell by one day she saw a lonely whale who was swimming around the oceans and started to teased the head of the whale for it shape and size.After Mata finish teasing the whale the whale ate her right up on the spot and swam right back into the ocean after swallowing Mata.when the whale went back into the ocean Mata used her shell and try to cut the whale belly open and found her way on a beach of a island named tonga.After when Mata was washed on the beach the chief of tonga found her sitting on the island so they got married.
