Mariah: On the 3 of August 1915.Rongo would always witier a letter and Rongo brother Rahia would always read it out loud and it would be sent on may and sent from Egypt.Tipu has heard Rongo’s letter countless times, and knows the words by heart.Both places Tipu has never seen. Because he has never been out.

Hope: On the 3rd of August 1915 Rahia was reading Rongos letter so he was told to read aloud. The letter was written in May and sent from Egypt. It also traveled from england. Those places Tipu has never seen before. Tipu has seen Rongos letter so many times he even knows it off by heart. Tipu could sense his mother leaning towards him. He knew what she would say, “The British in Egypt” and yet the British had taken another land from the native people. Whaea’s voice has been stony and hard and her eyes have had tears coming down ever since Rongo left. Tipu feels torn. Tipu knows that he should be loyal to his mother's iwi and stay with her since Rongo has already left. But Tipu heard news going around that George has been killed and he wants to be with his brother more than ever.

Michael: In 1915 3rd of August Rahia was reading Rongos letter. Whaea always told Rahia to read it out loud most days. They wrote it in May and sent it from egypt, and the postmarks show that it travelled to England. Rongo, doing the haka his brother describes shirtless under the north african sun. Tipu knows that his mother is leaning in his direction. Whaea’s voice is stony and hard, but her eyes are shiny with the tears that have been there since the day Rongo left. Tipu feels torn. But Tipu knows that he should be loyal to his mother’s iwi, that Tipu shall stay with his mother now that Rongo is gone. But news had spread about Gallipoli. Big George has been killed over there. Tipu wants to be there with his brother Rongo more than anything else. Tipu felt sad and lonely since his brother is gone to ww1.

The letter was written in May, and was sent to Egypt, and to England that Tipu has never known about. Tipu has read Rongo’s letters so many times,  he didn't even need to listen to it, instead he’d emagine him being with his brother doing the haka in the war.

Davlyn: the 3rd of august 1915, Tipu was reading Rongo’s letter that was made in may and made in egypt, but the letter had travelled through england. Tipu already read the same letter too many times, but this time he did not listen, instead he imagined that he was at war with his brother doing the haka. Tipu was torn to notbe with his brother.

Eh Htoo: 3 August 1915 Rahia is reading his brother's letter. The letter was written many times. Tipu has heard Rongo’s letter lots of times, and sometimes he did not listen. He would dream of doing the haka in the hot african sun with Rongo. But Tupi heard his mother and listened to it and he should stay home. In Britain in Egypt they have taken the land of native people off that country. People heard from the one you said big George died in. Gallipoli.

Hope -  Anzac day is about the people that died during World War 1 and after the war there were poppies that grew in the ground and Gallipoli is where the war happened. ANZAC is short for Australian New Zealand Army Corps. It is also a public holiday, On that day people wear poppies to respect the people that died during the war and so we remember them and that they fought for us. Anzac day is on the 25th of April. There were 2779 New Zealanders that died during the war.

  •  Railey- it started in WW1 where Big George died and it was the day where Gilopili Started it started in April 25 1915. More than 44,000 soldiers died and 2779 New Zealanders died.

Anzac stands for australia new zealand army corps. Anzac Day started in april 25 1915. 2779 New Zealanders died and 44,000 allied soldiers died. It lasted 10 or 9 months, they got there on april 15 and left january the 9th.

This is a world map to show how many countries England conquered over the centuries. NZ fought in WW1 because we are a Commonwealth country, or under the Queens reign.

This was to help us understand that when we read 'Britain', or British, it is referring to England but also some other countries (who are under English rule as well).
