Indigenous!

Our inquiry this term is Indigenous games.
Before we began talking about games, we first looked at what Indigenous means.

We studied three indigenous cultures

  • Aboriginials
  • Inuits
  • Native Americans
We learnt about how in each of these cultures, somebody came and colonised their land. Often this meant these indigenous people got kicked off their own land, and loss a lot of lives and resources.

To support our learning, we...

Made didgeridoo's...

Watched Pocahontas and studied the lyrics of the songs in it..

And watched films about Inuit whaling...

This helped us to understand how cultures can change over time, and why it is important to keep hold of traditions and cultures.

7 wonders of the world

Last week we started a research project about the 7 wonders of the world.
We got to choose which one we wanted to learn about, which meant we got to choose our own groups.
Today we had our Ako time where we shared our learning with our TPS family.
Thank you Mrs Kelly and Mrs Fepuleai for making time in your busy day to attend.

Here is an example of how it went when visitors came to learn from us. The presenter from each group would introduce the wonder of the world, describe it a little bit then the visitors could ask questions.

*Taj Mahal and Machu Pichu students were away, their video will come next week*

What is something you learnt about the 7 wonders of the world?
